10th Anniversary Victorian Theme Christmas Fayre 2013
The Burnham Lions Club held their 10th anniversary Victorian Themed Christmas Fayre in the High Street, Burnham on the Thursday 5th December.
With the exception of a shower earlier in the day the weather remained dry but chilly, helping to make this one of the best attended Christmas Fayres.
The event started with the Christmas Tree light switch-on at the green in front of Burnham Park Hall, performed by two local school children.
The High Street was closed to vehicles and lined with late opening shops, stalls, food sellers, games, music and kids rides.
The parade, which was the largest so far, had over 160 local school children, scouts and guides with their colourful decorations, 4 live bands and many entertainers, jugglers and a side of Morris dancers. With the Victorian theme, Queen Victoria herself with her entourage joined in, not forgetting Santa Clause and his Sleigh bringing up the rear.
Around 3000 people lined the High Street, while the parade passed.
The evening was capped with free mulled wine and mince pies at Burnham Park Hall and a free concert by Pop Goes the Choir.
The Burnham Lions would like to thank South Bucks District Council, Burnham Parish Council, The Frost Partnership, Michael Shanley Foundation, Eacotts, Burnham Park Hall and Burnham High Street Association for their support. With special thank to Sainsbury's at Taplow for help with fundraising, and Burnham Park Academy and Slough Police Cadets and other volunteers for their help with marshalling the event.
